About ISAK

In the Fall of 2005, Information Systems was declared its own major by the School of Business at KU. The major’s first semester experienced low enrollment and the Director of Accounting and Information Systems, James Heintz, asked a group of IS students to get together to discuss the content of the introduction course (IST 301) and the major in general.

After giving careful feedback to the Director, a group of students decided that the IS major needed its own club to induce activity and participation in the major. Several introductory meetings were held in the Spring of 2006 to see if there was an interest for the club. The club had its first active semester in Fall 2006 and it proved to be successful.

The Information Systems Association of KU strives to foster and promote leadership, creativity, and overall professional development of its members as it relates to information systems. ISAK also wishes to provide an earnest atmosphere and promote collaboration and discussion.

To promote activity and provide as many leadership opportunities as possible, ISAK has five committees in which any member can participate: the Funding Committee, Community Involvement Committee, Professional Development Committee, Social Committee, and the Website Committee. These committees and their members are essential to the success and advancement of ISAK.
